The Fellowship of the Ring is the first part of the Lord of the Rings book. There are two books in the book. (I know it's weird; people sometimes refer to The Lord of the Rings as a trilogy, but that's technically incorrect. J.R.R. Tolkien originally wanted The Lord of the Rings to be one book, but his publisher insisted on having three otherwise it would be way too long. If you've ever seen a complete volume of LOTR, you know what I'm talking about.) The first book describes the beginning of Frodo's journey. He has no idea what he's doing and makes some pretty dumb mistakes, especially at the Prancing Pony in Bree. That's when Aragorn comes in as Strider and saves the day! (Okay, admit it, Frodo couldn't have gone far without Aragorn to guide, protect and heal him with athelas or kingsfoil. Without Aragorn, the ring would have never been destroyed. So, yay, Aragorn!)

Aragorn does some pretty interesting stuff in The Two Towers. Poor guy, his best friend and counselor is gone, and he is left to guide the company and make all the decisions on his own. When they finally come to Amon Hen, he has a pretty rough time. He does not know what to do--should he help Boromir defend Minas Tirith, or go with Frodo? In the end he does neither. Though he must have felt like beating himself up over losing Boromir and letting Frodo and Sam go away alone, he perseveres and does the one thing in his power to do--save Merry and Pippin, who were taken by orcs. Then later he fights in the great battle of Helm's Deep and reunites with his friend Gandalf who does other marvelous things such as waken an old hypnotized horse king (don't ask) but anyway you should look at gandalfbiography.weebly.com for that, which will soon be up and running!

Okay, Aragorn is just so awesome he just gets a whole book to himself. That's right: The Return of the King is talking about Aragorn, because as the heir of Isildur he is the rightful king of Gondor, whatever envious old Denethor may say (click here for more on that). This book deals mainly with Minas Tirith and the battles fought there, especially The Battle of Pelannor Fields. Aragorn won this battle by braving a death path to recruit zombies to his cause. At the end of the book he became King Elessar Telcontar and ruled Arnor and Gondor with wisdom and power with his wife Arwen.
