Arwen was Aragorn's faithful spouse. They first met around Elrond's house, Rivendell, in the woods. 20-year-old Aragorn was immediately drawn to Arwen, who seemed to be as fair as Luthien herself. He called out to her, and told her his name, which before had been a matter of great pride to him but now seemed to be worth little, next to her. He learned she had resided in Lothlorien and was Elrond's daughter. Elrond saw how Aragorn looked at his daughter and was displeased. But he let Aragorn go and told him they would talk later. The next time Aragorn met Arwen he was fully-grown, 49 years old. It was a chance meeting in the woods of Lorien. It was on that day that Arwen decided she would marry Aragorn. When Elrond heard of this he was very sad, and he told Aragorn that his daughter would marry no less than the king of both Gondor and Arnor. So Aragorn went out in the War of the Ring and claimed his kingship, and afterword Arwen dwelt with him for many years, till King Telcontar died and she was heavy with despair. She went forth to the land of Lorien, saying goodbye to her son Eldarion, the next king, and to her daughters. Lorien was empty, for Galadriel was gone. And so she died there on Cerin Amroth, doomed to the mortal life of man.
